I knew I would eventually buy a treat maker, but I really wanted this one. Why??? If anything because of this: A filling injector!!! OMG! I also wanted the Cake pop maker to jump on the cake pop bandwagon, but please note - the Babycakes Cake Pop's are totally different from the other form of cake pop, or cake truffle, out there. The Babycakes Cake pop is just that - a round piece of cake on a lollipop stick. While the other cake pops or truffles are made from cake (fully cooked) and mixed with frosting so you can shape into - well - pretty much what ever you'd like them to be. I also wanted the cake pop maker to make mini donuts. Which is what I did this morning!! I used a box yellow cake mix - it was easy and I just had to see if it would work. Which it did quite nicely! George Foreman found out pretty early that people purchasing equipment such as his hamburger grill want pop off cooking surfaces so they can be washed in the dishwasher and the same applies here. This also cooks unevenly and you have to be sure to close it between removing the cooked pops and adding new batter because the top unit cools a bit and the cakes do not rise as much as they should. I do appreciate the uniform size of the bottom of the pops and it saves the expense of heating up your kitchen with your oven while baking. I found my pops cooked on the average of 6 minutes a dozen. The unit is very simple to use. My kids and I have a great time making snacks. The accessories included are pretty much all you need to work the unit. The fork that is included is an absolute must. I have had some occasions when the pops came out a bite softer than I would like, but I am pretty sure that that has something to do with the batter used as it is an on-off problem. Other than that, I think for the money, you cant find a better product. |
