4.0 out of 5 stars Works as promised! Buy two if you are into baking for bake sales!, November 22, 2009

My son had to have this for this birthday. I was skeptical but it truely does work. It was smaller than I anticipated, but if you mix up 2 boxes of cake mix and add two-thirds of the mix it makes a big difference. This leaves you enough mix for 12 regular size cupcakes. I found I had to turn the oven down from 350 to 325 and baked for approximatly 45 to 50 minutes so it didn't brown too much. I have tried both Duncan Hines and Pillsbury mixes in it and Pillsbury works best. If you are planning on making these for bakes sales (which sell like hot cakes!) I would recommend buying 2 molds if you haved the chance. I made 4 in one night and it took me 5 hours in total between baking, cooling, and frosting. Best part about it is that it makes the best Mario Brothers Mushroom Cake around!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised..., January 24, 2010
This review is from: Big Top Cupcake Silicone Bakeware (Kitchen)
Bottom Line Up Front: Worked as advertised.

My daughter flipped over seeing this on TV. I read the reviews, both on and off Amazon, and decided to give it a shot.

When it arrived, I received the three pieces in good condition. It was not in retail packaging but rather a plain white box. This may bother some, but I was fine with it. Inside the box were three silicone pieces as well as an instruction sheet and an idea/recipe book.

I sprayed the cooking surfaces with nonstick spray. Using a Duncan Hines butter cake mix, I split the batter almost evenly into the top and the bottom. In retrospect, I put too much in the bottom, not realizing how much each of the parts would rise during baking. BTW, the instruction sheet recommends splitting the batter in half. Mixed and baked at 375 degrees as directed by the cake mix instructions and set the timer to 35 minutes. I chose 35 minutes because the instructions advise this time; additionally, the... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars I love it...but..., October 26, 2009
I love this big top cupcake mold and just used it to create 3 different big cupcakes for a 9 year old birthday party. My only advice is to make sure that you use PLENTY of non-stick cooking spray. I've owned silicone bakeware before and never had to use cooking spray but after spending about an hour baking one of the cakes for the party, it came out in many different pieces. Still a great piece and a good party conversation!
